Court slams CBI : Sampath murder case

Kochi: The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court hearing the Sampath custodial murder case Friday slammed the CBI for its failure to arrest senior police officers including IG Mohammed Yasin.

The court wanted to know why ADGP Mohammed Yasin who is an accused in the case has not been arrested.

Admonishing the CBI for returning the arrest warrant issued by the court sessions judge Kemal Pasha said the investigating agency should not show double standards.

Court made the observations when the CBI counsel gave a vague reply to a query on granting bail to Sub-Inspector Ramesh who is an accused in the case.

The CBI had implicated IG B.S. Muhammed Yasin and SP Vijay Sakhare in the Sampath custodial murder case.

While Vijay Sakhare has been named as the 15th accused, Mohammed Yasin is the 16th accused. They have been charged under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 120 b (conspiracy).

The CBI had submitted that Sampath was also subjected to terrible torture under the instance and instigation of top cops Vijay Sakhare and Mohammed Yasin
