Paravoor sex scandal case: victim identifies five accused

July 16, 2011: In a major development in the Paravur sex case, the 14-year-old girl on Saturday identified the five accused who were arrested by the Crime Branch probe team.
The girl recognized the accused in an identification parade held at the Aluva Sub-Jail. The girl had earlier identified the eight accused in the case.
As many as 59 persons have been apprehended so far in connection with the sensational sex scandal case in which a minor girl from North Paravur was sexually exploited by many including her own father, by promising role in films.
The sexual abuse of the 14-year-old girl came to light three months ago after her mother lodged a complaint before the police submitting that her husband had forcibly taken the daughter to prostitution. Based on the submissions made by the girl and the mother, the police registered a case and launched a probe.
Though the police were able to arrest a few persons, including the girl’s father and mother in connection with the case, the government handed over the investigation to Crime Branch after there were allegations that the police were trying to help a few high-profile persons belonging to film industry.
