All safe in ship hijacked by pirates

MUMBAI:  Mohammed Nangi, a Keralite and one among the 21 Indian sailors of the chemical oil tanker, hijacked by Somali pirates, informed his parents that everybody in the ship is safe.

The other Keralite has been identified as K Rohit (26) from Thalikkulam in Thrissur. Rohit has been working on the ship as an electrician for two years. The ship was hijacked by the pirates on the 20th of this month.

Nangi informed his parents that it will take at least two months for the release.

India's Directorate General of Shipping said the Fairchem Bogey, managed by Mumbai-based Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, was hijacked while anchored in Salalah port. A Salalah-based shipping source said the vessel was being loaded with methanol when it was seized.
