CM defends appointment of Tarun Das

Thursday, August 11, 2011: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Thursday that there is nothing wrong in the appointment of former CII head Tarun Das as the chairman of Planning Commission.

Chandy said that he is not interested in making the appointment a controversy. The importance will be given to the development of the state, he said.

Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition VS Achuthanandan said that the appointment of Tarun Das is a proof of the government’s friendship with the companies that exploit groundwater resources, he said.

Tarun Das had earlier served as a member of the international advisory board of Coca Cola.
