Govt employees to get Rs 8500 as Onam advance

Wednesday, August 24, 2011: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said the government employees will get Rs 8500 as Onam advance and Rs 1750 as festival allowance.
Briefing the mediapersons after the weekly cabinet meet, Chandy said that last year it was Rs 7500 and Rs 1500 respectively.
Employees of public sector organizations will get the same bonus as last year. A decision regarding the bonus of other government employees will be taken at the special cabinet meet on Friday. An amount of Rs 150 will be increased to the benefits given to those not liable for bonus.
A panel headed by the chief secretary has been formed to look into the complaints in connection with main chain fraud cases. Other members would be additional chief secretaries of home, industries etc, advocate general and DGP. They have been directed to submit the report in a week.
