Issac justifies VS’ remarks against Royal family

Monday, August 22, 2011: Former finance minister T.M. Thomas Issac today termed the remarks made by Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan against Travancore Royal family, as the ‘Communist stand’.
Speaking to the reporters here on Monday, Issac justified the VS’ comment that venerating the royals is not in the Communist tradition. A public discussions or debate was necessary in this matter, he added.

His response comes in the wake of the comments made by Achuthanandan that the temple treasure was being smuggled from Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple by the members of the royal family.
Opposition leader earlier opined that they were trying to spread rumors that evil would fall if the sealed ‘B’ vault was opened.
The revelation comes at a time when the Royal family moved the Supreme Court on Friday, seeking direction not to open vault B, as such a step would hurt the sentiments of many devotees.
The petition also requested not to allow video recording of the treasure trove found inside the other chambers of the temple. The plea pointed out that opening of the B cellar would affect the traditional temple rituals.
