No justification for LDF agitations: Chandy

KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the government will soon announce a one-year programme on completion of the 100-days programme.
He was inaugurating a seminar on “Women Politics-Potentials” organised by the Mahila Congress in Kochi on Saturday as part of the Sadbhavana day observations.

There is no justification for the agitations being undertaken by the LDF in the state, Chandy said. At the Centre, the Left parties and BJP join hands to destabilise the Congress.
But the unholy nexus between the Left parties and the BJP will not succeed, Oommen Chandy said. The party had faced many such challenges in the past, he said. It is with the support of the masses that the Congress tides over such crisises, the Chief Minister said.
The incidents like atrocities against women,   increasing number of murders and suicides are shameful for the state, he said. The Government alone cannot change the situation. The social conscience should act so as to change the evil, Oomen Chandy said.
Mahila Congress state president Bindu Krishna presided over the meeting. Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas, Excise Minister K Babu, UDF convener P P Thankachan, Anwar Sadath MLA, Dominic Presentation MLA, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany and Deputy Mayor B Bhadra attended the programme.
