Sugathakumari to head panel on women’s and children’s rights

Tuesday, August 16, 2011: Kerala government has decided to set up a panel to formulate a clear-cut scheme to act against increasing atrocities on women and children in the state, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said today.
Addressing reporters after a cabinet meeting, Chandy said poet and social activist Sugathakumari would head the panel. Activists Mallika Sarabhai and Sunitha Krishnan and former bureaucrat Lida Jacob would also be the part of the panel, he said. Social Welfare department secretary Saradha Muraleedharan will be the convenor of the committee.
