Illegal wealth: Kunhalikutty plays down allegations

Tuesday, September 06, 2011: Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty today termed as baseless the allegations raised by the opposition that he had amassed wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Speaking to the reporters at a press meet held here on Tuesday, Minister opined that Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan along with some other criminal groups were filing cases against him in connection with this issue.

Meanwhile the Thrissur Vigilance Court on Tuesday rejected the plea filed against Minister PK Kunhalikutty in connection with the case. A Vigilance special cell is already probing the matter, and a new investigation is not needed, the court said.

The plea was filed by National Secular Conference state secretary Abdul Aziz. The petition alleged that Kunhalikutty owns 13 cents of land and a house at Thiruvananthapuram, an estate at Wayanad.
