Tuesday, September 06, 2011: State Industries Minister PK Kunhalikutty today welcomed the CBI probe into the police firing which took place in Kasargod on November 15, 2009.
Speaking to the reporters here on Tuesday, Minister added that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) had always supported a CBI probe into the case.
The decision to conduct a CBI probe came soon after the state government withdrew its petition challenging the High Court single bench’s order directing a CBI probe into the case. The Court also granted permission to withdraw the petition.

Earlier report:-
The district Muslim League committee had organised a public meeting welcoming Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal who was elected as the new state president of the Muslim League following the death of Syed Muhammedali Shihab Thangal.
Problems that arose at the programme venue led to police action and firing which killed Muslim Youth League member Muhammed Shafeeq. Shafeeq was reportedly killed by the bullet of the then Kasargod SP Ramdas Pothen. Another person named Askar was stabbed to death amidst the problems.
