Kerala liquor sales expected to shoot up during X’mas


Thursday, December 15, 2011: Liquor wholesalers in Kerala are expecting record sales in the run-up to this Christmas festival season. The liquor sales during previous Christmas festival season in Kerala has crossed Rupees 90 crore
The state-owned Kerala State Beverages Corporation (KSBC), the sole wholesalers of what is called Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer, is confident of pushing up its sales during the festival.
Festivals see a sharp surge in profit across private bars and state government-owned beverage shops. Kerala, which contains 19 percent Christians of the 32 million populations, is among the highest alcohol–consuming states in India.
