Pentavalent vaccination drive on Wednesday

Monday, December 12, 2011: Infants under 14 months will be given pentavalent vaccine shots on December 14 as part of the Universal Immunization Programme.
The controversial new vaccine will protect kids from diphtheria, whooping cough, hepatitis-B, haemophilus influenza-type B, pneumonia and meningitis in one shot.
The new vaccine is given in three doses, when the children are six weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks old. It is perceived that the one shot will help bring down the number of immunization injections and protect them.
