PG medical entrance test


The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, has invited applications for the All India Postgraduate Medical/Dental Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE 2012) to be held on January 8 for admission to the 50 per cent quota in MD, MS, diploma, and MDS courses in medical and dental colleges run by the Union and the State governments, except of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir) and municipal or other local authorities.


Admission to 50 per cent of the seats in the five government medical and dental colleges in Kerala is through this examination. Thiruvananthapuram is the only examination centre in Kerala. Other centres include Chennai, Goa, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata.



Applicants should be Indian citizens with MBBS or BDS degrees with full registration from the Medical or Dental Council of India. Candidates should complete the 12-month pre-registration internship from a recognised hospital on or before March 31, 2012.


Applications can be submitted online on www.aiimsexams.org till December 21. Prospectus is available on the website. The applicants must read the guidelines before submitting the application. The online application-cum-examination fee of Rs.1,000 (Rs.800 for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) can be paid using a challan downloaded from the website at any branch of the State Bank of India across the country.


GPAT


The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT 2012) for admission to the M.Pharm. course with scholarship will be held on May 6. Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, is conducting the test on behalf of the All India Council for Technology Education.


The three-hour test will have 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions, each carrying three marks. A wrong answer attracts one negative mark.


The test centres include Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Mangalore, Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore, Chidambaram, Chennai, Tirupathi, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Patna, Lucknow, Varanasi, Ranchi, Roorkee, and Delhi.


The syllabus includes pharmaceutics, genetic recombination, antibiotics, pharmaceutical jurisprudence and ethics, community pharmacy, drug store management, nuclear pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, and so on. Those with a B.Pharm. degree and those appearing for the final-year examination may apply. Applications can be submitted online from January 14 to February 20 on www.gpat.in or www.msubaroda.ac.in. A printout of the online application, after affixing a passport-size photograph and signature, along with the fee, should reach the Coordinator, GPAT- 2012, MS University of Baroda, Vadodara – 390 002 on or before February 27. The result of the test shall be published on May 31.
