Union Minister, DGP trying to sabotage probe'

KOZHIKODE: The Left Coordination Committee leaders on Saturday alleged that a Union Minister and DGP Jacob Punnoose were engaged in sabotaging the probe of Chandrasekharan murder case by focusing on local leaders in order to save the big fishes.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Left Co-ordination Committee president KS Hariharan said: “It is learnt that a Union Minister from Ernakulam is engaged in a move to save the big fishes involved in the brutal killing of Chandrasekharan”. He added that the minister was trying to scuttle the probe owing to the pressure from top level CPM leaders. Earlier, he was involved in the moves to protect CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, who is an accused in Lavlin case.
Alleging DGP Jacob Punnoose’s involvement in scuttling the probe, Hariharan said the DGP’s statement that the killing of Chandrasekharan was not a political murder indicates that it was for protecting the CPM. From his statement, it has become clear that he is trying to create favourable circumstances for the LDF in the upcoming Neyyattinkara bypoll, he added.
