Bank exclusively for women in the offing: Minister

Panchayat Minister M K Muneer told the Assembly on Tuesday that the Government would set up a bank exclusively for the benefit of women under the aegis of Kudumbashree.

Replying to the discussion on demand for grants, he said that during the past one year, the government sanctioned `84 crore for the Kudumbashree. Rejecting the Opposition’s allegations that Janashree was being promoted to destroy Kudumbashree, he said that in fact the government was using Kudumbashree as a nodal agency for women empowerment. But the claim that no other NGO should be allowed to come up cannot be accepted, he said.

He said that one post of Assistant Engineer will be sanctioned for 574 penchayats for the engineering division. One Asst engineer each for a cluster of two panchayats will be allotted in rest of the panchayats in the state.

Criteria to get disability certificate to be eased: For a single disability, certificate by a single doctor will be enough from now on.
