CPI (M) top leaders have role in TP Murder, says police

KOZHIKODE: The top leaders in CPI (M) have connections with the murder of T.P. Chandrasekharan, the police said in its remand report submitted along with the plea for extending the police custody of P. Mohanan, before Vadakara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Friday.

The leaders have role in the conspiracy that led to the killing of Chandrasekharan, even though there are no strong evidences to prove where the conspiracy began. The police have, therefore, had asked the court to extend Mohanan’s custody to five days and the Vatakara First Class Magistrate M Subaib extended the police custody of Mohanan till July 11 for further investigation in the case.

This is the first time the police went on record as saying CPI (M) leaders have role in the TP murder.

Mohanan had no complaints to say before the court against the investigative officers, when he was asked by Magistrate M Subaib.

Meanwhile, the court rejected the plea submitted by the police to get P.P. Ramakrishnan (CPI-M Thalassery Area Committee member) into custody. The remand period of K.C. Ramachandran, Abhinesh and Kannur Ajesh was extended for 20 days.

The special team has also made two arrests inside the Kannur Central Jail in connection with TP murder. Those arrested are Chetty Shaji (32) and Biju (28), both natives of Panur.

Chetty Shaji has been in jail in Arayakkul Vinayan Murder Case, while Biju was imprisoned for his involvement in a case registered by Kathiroor Police.
