DGP sabotaged ice cream parlour case, says Rauf

K A Rauf, estranged relative of Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, came up with a new allegation on Saturday that DGP Jacob Punnoose had sabotaged the inquiry report on ice cream parlour sex scandal case and made it in favour of Kunhalikutty, the main accused in the case.

He also demanded an inquiry by the CBI or other agencies into the case.

Addressing a press conference here, Rauf said, he stands by his earlier allegation that High Court judges were bribed to scuttle the verdicts in the case.

“Though it was not established in the inquiry report, I demand to carry out lie detection tests on myself and Sunny, son-in-law of Justice Narayana Kurup who accepted money from me,” added Rauf.

He also demanded a scientific probe into the discrepancies found in the affidavit filed by the then Advocate General M K Damodaran.

“The investigation conducted into the case establishes that money was given by me and Chelari Shereef to the victims Rajeena, Rejula and Vimala and this substantiates the revelations which I made earlier. The victims in the case were given huge amounts of money and it was not Rs 40 to Rs 50 lakh as reported.  They were given a sum of Rs 1 crore. The truth behind this could be unearthed only if the source of money is traced,” said Rauf.

Rauf added that while the probe into the ice cream case was satisfactory, it was unknown what happened when it became a report.

Many high ranking officials like DGP Jacob Punnoose, who was then IG, Kozhikode, were actively trying to save Kunhalikutty, alleged Rauf.

He said that he was facing the same situation faced by K Ajitha who took a firm stand in the icecream parlour case from the initial stage.

“Many fabricated cases were charged against me after I revealed the facts about the case. Sales Tax officials denied approval for a new factory in the ownership of my daughter and the Pollution Control Board withdrew the consent for my factory working in the city.  From many officials, I came to know that it was Kunhalikutty behind these petty games.  He is trying to close down the industries using his position as Industries Minister,” he said.

Rauf added that he would meet Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and will inform him these matters.

However, DGP Jacob Punnoose has refused to respond to the allegations raised by Rauf.
