Shukoor murder: MSF demands polygraph test on Govindan

KOZHIKODE:  The pro-Indian Union Muslim League Muslim (IUML) Students Federation (MSF) in the state demanded a polygraph test on senior CPI (M) leader M V Govindan in the Ariyil Shukoor murder case. Talking to reporters here MSF President P K Firoze said a lie detection test on Govindan would help find out the whereabouts of his son and the main accused in the case Shamjit, who was at large since the murder four months ago. He said Govindan, a CPI (M) State Secretariat member and Ernakulam district secretary of the party, had not lodged a formal complaint with the police after the disappearance of his son indicating his role in the murder of MSF's Taliparamba Mandalam Treasurer in Kannur.

He said the MSF suspected CPI (M) of sheltering the assailant while taking into account Politburo member and former Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's recent statement that even the Indian Army, forget about the local police, would not be in a position to locate a person if hidden by the party. He also demanded constitution of a special court for speedy trial of the case.
