Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan’s office attacked again

KOTTAYAM: In an embarrassing development for the police and government, Kerala home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan’s office in Kottayam has come under attack again, the second time in two weeks.

The first attack had happened in connection with a march by the Students Federation of India (SFI) to the district collectorate. Some window panes of the minister’s office had been broken in the attack. The glass panes had been replaced only two days back. SFI leaders had denied the organisation had anything to do with the incident.

In the latest incident, a glass pane in front of the office was broken, and the matter came to light on Wednesday morning when staff reached the office. The incident is expected to have taken place during the night, after a restaurant adjacent to the building closed for the day late on Tuesday.

Senior police officials visited the site on Wednesday. The incident happened at a time when the opposition CPI (M) is accusing the state government of carrying out a witch hunt of its leaders in the wake of the murder of rebel communist leader T.P. Chandrasekharan on May 4.
