TP murder case: SIT arrests Karayi Rajan

Tuesday, July 10, 2012: The special team probing the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader TP Chandrasekharan arrested Karayi Rajan, secretariat member of the Kannur district unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), on the charge of helping the assailants.

The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court had on Monday approved the petition submitted by Vadakara Deputy Superintendent of Police Jossy Cherian in this regard.

Rajan is in judicial custody at the Ernakulam district jail in connection with the case of the killing of National Development Front activist Mohammed Fazal in Kannur in 2006. This case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The special team has already charged Rajan under Section 118 (concealing design to commit offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life) and Section 212 (harbouring offender) of Indian Penal Code.
