ALL party meeting held



KANNUR: An all-party peace meeting convened by Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan was held at Collectorate hall. The meeting called for total peace in Kannur district and condemned the violent incidents that took place during the last one week, following the arrest of CPI (M) District Secretary P Jayarajan in connection with murder of Abdul Shukkor. The meeting came into an understanding that the violence should not recur and the government should order for impartial inquiry leading to arrest of all the real accused and bringing them before the law.

Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the meeting reached to a consensus that law would take its own course and should not interference into probe. The meeting also condemned the attack of party offices of various political parties, houses, police stations and government offices. The meeting was convened because the CPI (M) and left parties had boycotted the peace meeting convened by District Collector on August 4. Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan, MLAs T V Rajesh, C Krishnan, K K Narayanan, James Mathew, A P Abdulla Kutty, K M Shaji, Sunny Joseph and Political party leaders M V Jayarajan, P K Sreemathi, M V Govindhan (CPI-M), V K Abdul Khader Maulavi (IUML), Satheeshan Pacheni, Martin George (Congress), K Rajjith, U T Jayanthan (BJP), Valsan Thilankeri (RSS) and other leaders from various parties and Inspector general Jose George, District Police Chief Rahul R Nair and other top officials attended the meeting.
