Nurses Strike, VS lashes out at Chandy

KOCHI: Leader of opposition V S Achuthanandan criticised Chief Minister Oommen Chandy with the allegation that the latter did not involve in the nurses’ strike because he is intimidated by bishops whom he considers it a folly to displease.

He added that if the three nurses who threatened to commit suicide had died, it would have been a blemish in the image of the state.

He remarked that the government is trying to thwart the Marad case as it did with the ice-cream parlour and palmolein cases. It was Oommen Chandy who opposed CBI probe in the Marad massacre.

He said that the chief minister is trying to trap him in the land scam case and added that the land was given to his relative during the time when K Karunakaran was the chief minister.

He said that the recent CPM-CPI discord will be resolved by the central leaderships.
