Package needed for special children

Senior Congress leader V M Sudheeran has demanded that the government should introduce a comprehensive package for the welfare of special children. He also urged the government to form a special commission to look into the issue.

Inaugurating the valedictory function of the two-day training to special schools’ teachers and principals, organised by the All Kerala Special Schools’ Association in Kochi on Tuesday, Sudheeran said that he would personally take up the issue of improving the remuneration of the special schools’ staff. Responding to the demands raised by the association, Sudheeran said that amendments should be brought into the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.

He said that such children need special attention. “There is no doubt that the remuneration given to special school staff should be increased. There is a need for a special package addressing all the issues concerned. Recently, the CM said that the govt is considering a special package for them,” he said.
