Plastic tricolour banned

THRISSUR: In the context of the large-scale sale of plastic national flags in connection with Independence Day and their careless discarding after use, the Kerala General Administration Department has issued a circular banning the sale and use of plastic tricolour during Independence Day celebrations as the plastic tricolours harm the environment.

It is also a blatant violation of the Indian Flag Code of 2002, said the authorities that imposed the ban.

"Strict action will be taken against those who throw away the tricolor after use. Those who use tricolor are requested to show full respect to it," said the officer.
