Raghavan refutes allegations

KOZHIKODE: Congress leader and MP M K Raghavan refuted allegations of his non-cooperation with the Corporation authorities in the developmental activities of the city. C PI (M) leader Elamaram Karim and Mayor A K Premajam had in a press conference accused Raghavan of claiming the entire credit for development projects in the city. Raghavan hit back at Karim by accusing him of delaying the ‘Nirdesh’ project, India’s first ship designing centre at Chaliyam.

“During the stone-laying ceremony of ‘Nirdesh’, Karim had promised that title deeds would be distributed to 21 families and flats to 131 families. Another promise was the setting up of a skill development centre to train local people and provide them jobs at the ancillary units. However, he has not kept his promise and the previous government has not even allocated the funds for them. He also did not take part in a recent meeting that was called to discuss the ‘Nirdesh’ project,” said Raghavan.
