SIT to probe driver's murder


A Special Investigation Team(SIT) has been constituted to probe the brutal murder of a taxi driver at Rayamangalam in Perumbavoor.

Perumbavoor DySP Hari Krishnan will monitor the SIT which is headed by Kuruppampady Circle Inspector Crispin Sam G S.

The SIT has already assigned two teams to camp at the Idukki-Tamil Nadu border to zero in the culprits. The cops suspect the involvement of an Idukki-based ganja mafia behind the murder of the cab driver.

The suspicion surfaced after the police examined the phone call details of the victim, Hyder Ali. The last call was made from Idukki on Wednesday midnight.

It was revealed in the preliminary investigation that the victim’s taxi was hired by an unidentified youth for a trip to Idukki on Wednesday.  

Later, the driver’s half-burnt body was found in a bush at Rayamangalam on Thursday morning.

He was brutally beaten and stabbed before being set ablaze, the police said. Crispin Sam said investigation in the case is in the right direction and that the murderers would be nabbed soon.
