Special team to probe DYFI leader’s death

A special team under the leadership of Hosdurg ASP Manjunath has been formed to investigate the death of DYFI leader Manoj who was killed during the hartal observed by CPM in protest against the arrest of P Jayarajan on Thursday. 


Several people including IUML workers have been taken into custody by the police for recording statement.


The District Police chief S Surendran said investigating officials are questioning people to find out what actually happened at the scene.


Meanwhile, the body has been sent from Pariyaram Medical College to Kozhikode Medical College for postmortem. ASP Manjunath said, no conclusions can be reached as the reports are yet to come out. The case in connection with the death was registered by the police on Thursday evening.


The body of Manoj is expected to be cremated on Saturday before noon at his residence. CPM leadership in the district has said that CPM State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan would be present to pay last respects to the deceased.
