210 doctors, 570 nurses to be appointed in state



KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the cabinet had decided to appoint 210 doctors and 570 staff nurses in the government hospitals. The government in its budget speech had assured that it would fill doctors’ vacancies and the decision to appoint doctors was to fulfil the assurance made in the budget, he said while briefing Cabinet decisions to reporters here.

The Cabinet had also decided to give its approval to the master plan for the comprehensive projects in Kapurtala and Travancore plots in New Delhi. MPs from the state had raised certain issues in the project and the final decision in this regard was taken with certain changes after having discussions with a subcommittee, he added. The project would be submitted before the New Delhi Municipal Corporation for due clearance in this regard, he added. The government would start four women ITI one each in Malappuram, Changanasserry, Idukki and Kasaragod and 48 posts would be created for the purpose, he said. Chandy also said the Cabinet had also given its approval for the draft report of Kerala Small Hydel power policy 2012. The government had also directed the Wayanad district collector to locate 75 acre of land for setting up of Srichithira Thirunal Medical Institute there, he said.
