Aranmula airport gets Ministry of Environment’s nod

NEW DELHI: On the recommendation of the state counterpart, the central Ministry of Environment & Forests has issued permission for acquisition of paddy fields for the proposed Aranmula airport project.

There are conditions imposed on the leveling of the fields.

There had been a lot of controversy and protests regarding the acquisition and the state department had informed the centre that no agricultural activities had been going on in the proposed site for over a decade.

The permission was given on the basis of finding this information to be true.
