Case against 1,010 for uploading movie


The state Anti-Piracy Cell on Saturday registered a case against 1,010 persons for uploading and downloading pirated copy of Malayalam movie ‘Bachelor Party’ from the internet.

The case was registered after a complaint from Sajithan, the owner of ‘Movie Channel’, which bought the copy rights to sell the CD, DVD of the movie and the internet and mobile rights.

Sajithan also handed over the IP address (internet protocol address) of 16 persons who uploaded, downloaded and shared the movie, to Anti-Piracy Cell SP Rajpal Meena.

The movie, which was released in June, also appeared in internet piracy site, Tamilrocks’.

From the information given by Sajithan, the Anti-Piracy Cell had collected details of around 20 persons out of the 1,010.

“In the investigation through Jadoo Tech Private Solutions, a company started to prevent piracy of movies through internet, it was found that around 30,000 people watched the pirated copy of the movie through the internet during the past 10 days,” said Rajpal Meena in a press release.

The IP addresses of the 1,010 persons were from countries such as USA, UK, UAE, KSA,Qatar, Algeria, Botswana, Kazakhstan, Pakistan etc and from Rajasthan, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Pondicherry, Kollam, Kozhikode, Kottayam and Palakkad.
