Former MLA R Prakasham dies


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran communist leader and former MLA R Prakasham (85) died at his daughter Jameela Prakasham and Kovalam MLA’s residence in Thirumala early Saturday morning.

The body was later taken to his family house in Parippally. The body will be kept at the Kayikkara Asan Square and at the Attingal Municipality grounds for the people to pay homage. Cremation will take place at the Attingal public crematorium at 5 pm. He leaves behind his wife Lilly Prakasham and other children Sindhu Prakasham, Soja Prakasham, Girish Kumar and late Sivakumar. Dr A Neelalohithadasan Nadar is his son in law.

Prakasham was the son of late P M Raman, the first gazetted officer of the Ezhava community, and Bharathy.

Speaker G Karthikeyan, Minister V S Sivakumar, MLAs V Sivankutty, P K Gurudasan, Mayor K Chandrika, deputy mayor Happy Kumar, CPM district secretary Kadakampally Surendran, Janata Dal leaders and personalities from different fields paid homage to the departed soul.
