Lovers commit suicide

KANNUR: The bodies of a 27-year-old married youth and his 17 year- old lover, a nursing student, were found by some local people in Dharmadom river near Thalassery early today.

According to Dharmadom police, the dead were identified as Sajith (27), an electrician, and his lover Aswani (17), both neighbours of Paraparam near Pinarayi.

Dharmadom Sub Inspector Jayaraj, who conducted the inquest said Sajith, who was married to another woman four months back, had been missing since September 9 along with Aswani. She was supposed to join her nursing classes at Thrissur yesterday. The locals found the body of Aswani at Chathadom beach near Dharamadom and that of Sajith at Chirakuni Kadavu near Palayad, about three km away.

Police suspect that the lovers would have jumped to death from Parapram bridge. However, details about when they died could be ascertained only after the post-mortem at Pariyaram Medical College hospital. Police also said the lovers' photos were recovered from their money purses.
