Minister clarifies on 'complaint' on Jairam Ramesh

KOCHI: Rural Development Minister K C Joseph Monday made it clear that he had neither lodged complaint against Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh to Congress President Sonia Gandhi or had any difference of opinion with him. Talking to reporters here, the Minister, however, admitted that he had sent a letter to Sonia Gandhi regarding certain anomalies in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREG) Scheme in the state. 'I could not share all the details in the letter, which I wrote to the Congress President,' he added Alleging the schemes in the MGNREG were not suitable for the state, he suggested instead of using the manpower for clearing canals or picking weeds, it should be used for productive line.

While implementing schemes, it should be according to the needs of each state, he added. Stating 'Kudumbasree' should not be politicized; the Minister said there were no anomalies in seeking advice from the officers, who headed the scheme. When asked about his comment on Jairam Ramesh meeting CPI (M) leader Thomas Isaac, he said, 'there is nothing wrong in accepting valuable and good advises.

'But Since Jairam was a Congress Minister, he has to take care of the party policies also.'
