Minister’s escort jeep knocks down youth

KOLLAM: A 22-year-old youth was seriously injured when he was knocked down by a police jeep escorting Minister for Youth Affairs P K Jayalakshmi at Alapad Kuzhithura. Rajesh, a fish-worker from Cheriyazheekkal in Alapad, was riding a motorbike. He was taken to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital and subjected to an emergency surgery. Rajesh’s friend who was riding pillion was also injured, but not seriously. The Minister was on her way to the Mata Amritanandamayi Ashram. The escort jeep was from the Karunagapally police station.
