Railway officials arrested for harassing couple in train


THRISSUR:  Two railway officials were arrested for harassing a couple and for threatening the police who came to the rescue of them. The incident happened early Wednesday morning at Shornur.

The couple travelling in the Nizamudeen Rajdhani Express was harassed by the train superintendent Rohit Singh (59) and ticket examiner Surinder Singh (38).

The business couple, who caught the train from Ernakulam was troubled over ticket reservation issue. Following the incident, the couple informed the Shornur railway police via phone.

When the train reached Shornur, the two refused to alight from the train for questioning. When they knew that they would be taken into custody, they attacked the police. In some way the two were taken into custody. The police have registered a case against the two for disrupting police from their duty and for harassing the couple. The duo will be produced before the court later today.
