Strict action against striking doctors, says health dept

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The health department has decided to take strict action against government doctors partaking in the non-cooperation strike starting from tomorrow.  Dies-non will be imposed on those striking, the circular released by the secretary of the health department said.

The doctors will get a service break if they avoid meetings convened by district medical officers and from government programmes.

The strike is in protest against the transfer of six doctors from Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts in connection with the death of a Bihari youth identified as Satnam Singh at the Peroorkada Mental Health Centre.
