VS named first accused in land allocation case


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The vigilance team submitted a report to its director after making opposition leader V S Achuthanandan the first accused in connection with the transfer of land to his relative while serving as the chief minister.  

Charge sheet will be filed against the accused after legal advice. Meantime, K R Muraleedharan has been exempted from the accused list and has made him an approver. Seven persons have been named as accused in the case.

K P Rajendran, the then revenue minister and VS’ personal assistant Suresh are the second and third accused.  VS’ relative T K Soman, VS principal secretary Sheela Thomas, former district collectors of Kasargod--Krishnankutty and Anand Singh are also accused in the case. The report was submitted after completing the probe in seven months.

2.33 acres of land was allotted to Soman and his wife in Kasargod.
