Don’t drag R Sankar into controversies, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Don’t drag former chief minister R Sankar into unnecessary controversies, said Chief Minister Oommen Chany. It was Sankar who initiated social welfare projects in the state. Chandy said this while inaugurating the prayer meet organized by the KPCC in front of the statue of Sankar against the exclusion of the chief minister from the unveiling ceremony.

KPCC chief V M Sudheeran who spoke after that said the function organized to unveil the statue of R Sankar has turned one to insult him. The prayer meet’s aim is to awaken the conscience against communalism. Sankar was a person who followed the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru. He stood firm in all his attitudes.

SNDP yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has insulted Sankar by using his service for narrow political purposes.

The SNDP is trying to make Sankar a RSS activist, said Home Minister Ramesh Chennnithala. The same will be done to Mahatma Gandhi tomorrow, he said.

KPCC vice president M M Hassan, other congress leaders and Sankar’s son Mohana Sankar participated in the function.
