Kummanom to fly to Delhi, likely to be BJP state chief

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Talks are on in connection with the state’s new chief of the BJP. The name of Kummanom Rajashekaran is heard for the post. Party chief Amit Shah will hold talks with party core committee leaders of the state tomorrow. It was reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had yesterday asked Kummanom to take over the post. He will be reaching Delhi today as per the directive of Amit Shah and will take part in the crucial talks held with core committee members’ tomorrow.

It was indicated that the central leadership was considering a leader for the post from outside as a solution to factionalism in state’s unit of the party. It is also circulated that they want someone for the post also interested by the RSS. There were also reports that the name of R Balashankar, in charge of party national publication section, will be considered.  A decision will be taken in tomorrow’s core committee meeting.

The new chief is selected as the tenure of present chief V Muralidharan has ended. The name of the new chief is likely to be announced by next month. Meantime, the state leaders have opined that they are not aware of the names heard now.
Some leaders hope the present chief will be asked to continue till the polls are over.
