Modi arrives in Kochi to grand welcome

KOCHI: With controversies revolving around the unveiling ceremony R Shankar’s statue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kochi on Monday to the grand welcome of a huge gathering of people.

Modi, who reached INS Garuda Naval Air Station at 4:10 pm, was received by Justice P Sadasivam, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, other ministers and Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar also accompanied Modi.

From the air station, Modi left at 4:15 pm to Thrissur Kuttanellur Government College Ground by a helicopter, which touched down on Thekkinkadu Maidan at around 5 pm, after which he took part in the public meeting there. After the meeting, he will go to Taj Malabar by roadway for stay in the day
