Didn’t get summons in solar case, no mention of my role in scam: Oommen Chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Chief Minister has responded to the Bangalore court order that has punished him over the solar scam case. Oommen Chandy reiterated that he had not got the summons from the court. “It was my fault that I didn’t take the case seriously. Nowhere in the complaint or in the FIR, is it mentioned that I had a role in the scam,” Oommen Chandy claimed.

Earlier, Chandy had said that the court verdict was unilateral and the verdict was given without hearing his side.

Chandy and others were fined for cheating money out of Malayali businessman M K Kuruvila, who had filed a case against the former. The court in its order had asked Chandy and others to pay back One crore 60 lakh as fine within six months.

In the complaint, it is said that the accused took money by offering the complainant South Korean technical knowledge and Central government subsidy related to a solar project.
