Five persons arrested for hunting Sambar Deer

KASARGOD: Five persons were arrested for allegedly poaching a Sambar deer at Ranipuram in the district, sources said Sunday.
A jeep and two rifles were also seized from their possession, official sources said.

The five-member gang had allegedly gone hunting and four of them were returning in the jeep with the carcass, when Forest department officials caught them, sources said.

A motorcycle-borne person accompanying the gang was also taken into custody, they said.

A case has been registered.
