Cigars, liquor to cost more


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The price of tobacco products except beedi will increase.  The rise is due to the increase in the tax of tobacco products from 15% to 20% .

Finance Minister K M Mani while presenting the budget said the price of liquor except beer and wine will cost more. It is due to the rise in the tax from 100 to 105%. The tax of disposable plates, glass and leaf has been raised to 20% and it will also cost more. The price of luxurious cars and items will increase as the tax has been raised to 14%.

The price of broken rice, avil and malar has been exempted from tax. The price of these items will cost less. The price of slippers till Rs 500 will decrease.

The tax in the sale of cardamom through spices board has been reduced. The price of food in house boats will be cost less.
