Jacob Punnoos intervened in ice-cream case, alleges VS

NEW DELHI: The additional affidavit filed in the Supreme Court by opposition leader V S Achuthanandan mentioned the intervention of former DGP Jacob Punnoos in the investigation of the sensational ice-cream parlour case. The affidavit alleged his intervention as contempt of court.

VS had filed an affidavit in the case earlier. The leader filed the additional affidavit Tuesday with special permission of Justice Ranjana Desai considering the case. Talks were held with officials in the presence of the attorney general before the final report of the investigating team is produced. The affidavit stated that the former DGP intervened in the investigation in order to sabotage the case.

Palmolein case sabotaged by Chief Minister, alleges VS

Thursday, February 16, 2012: Opposition leader and CPM stalwart VS Achuthanandan today alleged that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had sabotaged the sensational Palmolein case.
Addressing the mediapersons here on Thursday, Achuthanandan alleged that the Chandy had removed palmolein case Special prosecutor PA Ahamed just as he removed PK Haneefa, the Vigilance Court judge.
The case relates to loss to the tune of Rs 2.32 core allegedly caused to the exchequer by import of palmolein in 1991-1992 when late Congress leader K Karunakaran was the chief minister and PJ Thomas, the Food Secretary and a member of the Board of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation.

Govt trying to sabotage palmolein case, alleges VS

Saturday, September 24, 2011: Opposition leader VS Achuthanandhan said that ruling party members are trying to disrupt and derail the palmolein case.

The Govt is trying to sabotage the case by using others. Earlier it was Vigilance director Desmond Netto and now it was chief whip P C George, VS alleged.

The judiciary cannot perform independently under the reign of Oommen Chandy. Chandy is exposing his innocence outside and trying to sabotage from behind.

VS flayed Chandy for remaining silent and not reacting when PC George raised allegations against a judge. PC George has taken over the quotation of Oommen Chandy in the palmolein case. The Govt is using the chief whip to intimidate the judiciary, VS alleged.
