Man killed after theft


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a ghastly incident, a man was murdered after robbing him at Kanjirampara in the capital city. The dead identified as Dr. B. Harihara Varma (59), staying in a rented house in Puthurkkonam near Vattiyoorkavu, was killed after robbing his gems and diamonds. Varma is a member of the Mavelikkara royal family. The incident was informed to the police by Varma’s aide Advocate Haridas.

Haridas brought two persons identified as Premraj and Yogesh to Varma’s house for the sale of precious items. Varma and Haridas fainted after they were forced to smell choloform by the team while examining the stuff.

Haridas, who regained consciousness found Varma lying dead. He immediately informed police about the incident.

Haridas told police that the team landed in the capital city Monday morning by Air India flight. The police are searching the airport and railway station following the incident. The list of names of those arrived Monday is also being inspected.
