Meanwhile Kerala has submitted a new affidavit in Kerala High Court over the Mullaperiyar issue. In the affidavit, it is stated that the dam doesn’t have the capacity to hold 136 feet water.
It also stated that it would yield no results even if the dam is strengthened. It is not possible to strengthen a 116-year-old dam.
In its affidavit, Kerala made its stand clear that the state has decided to construct a new dam. The state also informed of the actions, which are planned to be taken by the government, if any disaster happens.
The police team led by IG has prepared an action plan on disaster management. If needed police would seek the help of navy and army. More police forces are deployed in the area and a digital system would be set up in Kumili to evaluate water level.
Kerala also brought to the attention of HC the findings of national agencies, which stated that the dam is weak. It also submitted the report by investigation agencies. It is stated that if any disaster happens, that would affect 40 lakh people. AG said more details would be available only after dam break analysis.
