CPI responsible for LDF’s debacle in Ernad: CPM report

Tuesday, December 27, 2011: The CPM in its report of its district conference in Malappuram has come down heavily on CPI for LDF’s drubbing in Eranad in the last assembly elections in the state.
The CPI is wholly responsible for the poll debacle in Ernad and it’s a shame that the party had come third in the constituency, the report said.
Error in choosing candidate had been the main reason for the failure. Anwar, who had contested as independent candidate was CPI’s initial choice. But the party rolled back on its decision even as CPM had already started campaigning for Anwar.
Muslim League has also been criticized for creating communal polarisation the region during elections. The report has pointed out that not many from Muslim community are coming forward to leading posts in the party.
The party had lost the security deposit on the CPI candidate who came fourth in Ernad with a mere 2700 votes, the report said.
