New model code of conduct for Neyyattinkara bypoll

Friday, April 27, 2012: The Election Commission has made drastic changes in the model code of conduct on a trial basis. The new rules would be brought into effect at the by-poll to be held in Neyattinkara.
Based on this, if an election date is announced for an Assembly seat, the code of conduct would be implemented only in that constituency. Earlier, the whole district was brought under the code of conduct rule.
Though the code of conduct was enforced in Neyattinkara, there would be no ban in implementing development projects outside the constituency.
