If Mullaperiyar breaks, other dams will hold water, says AG

KOCHI: There is no link between the water level of Mullaperiyar dam and safety and even if the Mullaperiyar dam breaks, the Idukki, Cheruthoni and Kulamavu dams will be able to hold up the water, informed Advocate General K P Dandapani to the Kerala High Court. The media is creating unnecessary fear in the minds of the people, he said.

Dandapani who appeared for the state government said that if the shutters of Cheruthoni are opened, the water will flow directly to the Arabian Sea.

If he media is creating unnecessary fear, then why did the chief minister fly to Delhi, court asked? Is this anybody’s imagination and directed him to inform that if the dam breaks, in how much time the water will reach Idukki and then to Arabian sea.
