Lavalin case: Pinarayi asked to appear before Court

Monday, December 19, 2011: The CBI team investigating the sensational SNC Lavalin case has on Monday submitted the further investigation report before the CBI special Court here.
Accepting the report, the Court directed to issue a notice against CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and six other accused directing them to appear in person on April 10.
The Court also directed to issue a warrant against company’s former senior vice president Claus Trendel, the sixth accused in the case.
Reliable sources informed that the further investigation report submitted by the CBI Chennai unit had no evidences against former Power Minister of Kerala and Congress leader G Karthikeyan.
The SNC Lavalin case is a financial scam related to the contracting of the government with a Canadian company, SNC-Lavalin which resulted in an alleged net loss to the exchequer of 374.50 crore.
Several politicians were involved and eventually charged, including former minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
